Your favourite Spider-man game?

The Batman thread got people talking. And it would appear that of the two, Bats has probably got the higher overall quality.

But what Spidey games do you recall with fondness?

And do the modern ones surpass them?

I really liked Maximum Carnage on the SNES. Probably doesn't hold up well now. I think Spider-Man on the Playstation by Neversoft is probably my fav.

The Megadrive Spidey was always my fav. Great little platformer with some wonderful use of his web abilities.

Mine too. I've got a 2600 plugged in at work and Spidey gets a go on a regular basis

I'd say the arcade version by Sega. Haven't played it for a while, but I remember liking it. Big sprites, lots of action, good game.

There was an ace C64 version. May be rubbish now, but at the time it was great.

The PS1 version was pretty good at the time, but aged pretty quickly.

The megadrive version was decent from memory, as was the master system and gamegear versions.

Most recent Spidey game I enjoyed was Spiderman 3 on the Xbox 360. I hated it to begin with, but grew to really enjoy it. It wasn't a massive game but provided me with a few days of fun.

More love for the megadrive version here, taking the pictures of the badguys too! at the time it was genius, took about 20 minutes to work out how to kill sandman too.... good times

Really loved the style of the first spidey game on ps1, great but so short, but the trend of chase missions which started here still haunt spidey titles today is so tedious!

I loved spidey 2 on xbox & ps2 and is one of those games i didnt want to end so spent so many hours scanning the city for the prizes.

and the last good one is web of shadows, not without its faults but comes closest to the 2nd game for fun. the horrendous slowdown once the city goes to hell not to mention the crashes but still i went back for more.

Any news on the next game?

The photography in the MD game was a genius touch - it was one of the most imaginative ways to personalise the experience that I've seen in an action game.

I also quite liked the C64 game. It had really good web swinging for the time.

Did anyone ever play the Spider-Man version of Questprobe? I always loved the Fantastic Four one but never played the others.
