Your monitor will still show the images whether it supports full RGB or not. If your monitor does support it then you'll get truer blacks with it on but if it doesn't you'll lose the slight variations in similar blacks and will just get a flat black image.

Have a look here to give you an idea of what you should be looking for!

Thanks John!

With it set to 'on' blacks do look better for sure and colours generally seem much less washed out. I've got a few Disney (well the kids do ) & Lucasarts dvd's so will see if they contain the THX Optimiser. Failing that I have some calibration software that has something simlar.

Transfer this image over to your PS3 and activate full RGB, there are 12 different squares that you will be able see if your monitor supports it.

Arrow

Anyone after the Trilink switcher, as so well received by Lyris?

I've got one spare that I'll put in the market section if anyone's interested. £30 including P&P and I'll throw in an HDMI cable.

In most cases, full RGB should be set to Limited as TV's don't expect to be getting full 0-255 colour range over HDMI.

Didn't realise the review was written by Lyris.....do Joytech return the favour in the form of fast cars & faster women*?

On a more serious note, it's a big help and has convinced me that I don't need to pay a small fortune for a decent switcher!

(* or more likely he just got to keep the review switcher)

Thanks John - will give it a go

Edit: yep I can see all 12 so looks like it supports it. The very top left square is just barely visible but I'm guessing that's meant to be the case.

That's exactly how it should be! It can make such a difference having ascreen that supports it I feel.

No free cars, computers, women, or men, and worse still, I actually bought the switcher myself and just happened to review it

But that's just because I didn't ask, I just had it with me and thought I'd review it.
