No hideous HD makeover graphics for XEVIOUS, just the original look (and sound), which is fine by me - I never play these old classics with the "Enhanced" (Ho Ho!) option and like how Namco don't even bother with it in their games. :thumb:
The game has always had really smart graphics anyway, definitely one of the best-looking games of it's time. And the music is still that same distinctive 5 second loop.
Gameplay-wise, it can still cut it and remains quite distinctive. Mainly because there hasn't been enough games during the past 25 years where you have to aim your bombs. I was actually playing this on the PSP quite recently and remember thinking how amazing it must've been back in '82!
Pad users will be glad to know there's a rapid-fire option and most of the achievements look pretty easy to acquire, although a couple will be a nice challenge. This is great XBLA release. :)

:D I can't wait to play it - iirc I could never get by the 3rd mothership back in the day !!!
They should released a pad attachment with the flashing red buttons for starting the game :)

Got 'round to playing this last night, really good conversion and strangely easier than I remember. Very enjoyable.
Great fansite here,

I wondered how you'd sussed the S flag and citadel locations so quick ;)

200/200 ;)
Blaster Master was the hardest achievement.

Well done, aim to do the same over the weekend ....
Noticed you only needed the 500 aerial enemies one earlier, read you have to go from the begining to around end of level nine to nab it, secret flags here I come ;)

Last night, I reached level 10 and still didn't get it. When I unlocked it earlier though, I had died a few times at this (http://bbs.remind.bz/gazo/image/a516a87cfcaef229b342c437fe2b95f7.png) bit where a lot of aerial enemies appear. You can keep picking up the special flag each time you retry, so theoretically, you could repeat that section over and over again for a massive score.

Is it any different to the free version with RR7 on PS3? If it's the same then I won't bother paying for it to be honest.

If the RR7 version is the full game and arcade-perfect, then it'll just be the same.

You can unlock the full game and just play it whenever you want. I think it's the full version anyway?

I've been playing Xevious on and off since it came out (yes I'm that old), yet I can't seem to reveal the Special flags, even using the maps there.
I've done most of the Achievements - I've had no problem getting the citadels out.
Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Special flags can appear anywhere horizontally - not just in the position shown on the maps. They never move vertically, but their horizontalness (is that such a word?) is random. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the swift reply.
I see, so you have to bomb along a line?
I think I remember revealing one on the Namco Museum version one time, but it was a total fluke obviously.

Yep, start at the left of the screen and move and bomb about half an inch to the right time and time again - you won't always have time to reveal a flag, but pick a easy level and keep retrying if needs be, they are there somewhere. Can be fustrating trying to reveal them I know.
Think the most I've ever uncovered in one game is two. Just luck of the draw.
PS. Think your bomb cursor turns red if you are over the flag (or is that just for citadel's ? can't remember)

The aiming reticule doesn't turn red for flags, only the Sol Citadels. The one in the river on level 1 is quite easy to find.

Cheers.
I hadn't noticed the reticule changing for the citadels either.
