Seen couple of reviews, 5/10 seems the average score.

Its not top down, 8 player multiplayer and theres both checkpoint race with guns ( pretty much sucks really) but the 8 player derby is a good laugh mind although it is a bit repetative, its a laugh on live at least

Started getting into the carrier a big more and im quite enjoying this now, the races are good fun as well as the derbys although the checkpoint ones are a bit annoying mre than anything. Worth a punt though atleast try the trial youll either love it or hate it i suppose :ho: HOHOHO

Yes a big let down, could have been so good as well, Assault Heroes has really set the bar as to expectations of XBLA games.

Just to re-express what has already been said, I had high hopes for this game as it's from the developers that did Carmageddon however it really sucks balls.
Looks like a 1st gen Dreamcast title, plays like an Atari Jaguar title.

Likewise. Assault Heroes last week was much better.
Roll on Alien Homonid and Castle Crashers
Didn't have any particular preconceptions, but it looked a bit Quantum Redshifty, so I downloaded the Trial quite happily. But by Christ, this is a massive load of shit.

Only a very small minority of people seem to like the way this game plays. Novadrome often feels like a less solid take on Ed Logg's quality conversion of Rush 2049 for the Dreamcast, with dashes of the cult PC racing games Rollcage and Motorhead thrown in; set in an abstract looking 720p Tron-ish world.
I love the retrofuturist clean hi-res vector look (although the slowdown is disappointing and makes me wonder if the engine wasn't optimised), and I was a fan of all of the above mentioned games. But the game design here in general is a bit questionable; against the CPU it results in some very random feeling gameplay. Luck often plays a significant part in determining wins/losses early on, especially in the strange random checkpoint races, where the way the lead suddenly changes drastically due to the obscure scoring is not always clear.
But with a suitable custom soundtrack, this is an enjoyable retro experience to me, certainly worth the budget price and promises replay value due to its randomness and quite a long challenge...

THAT has sold me on it.
Expect me back raging and swearing tomorrow :hmm:
