This is a decent little shooter. Never played it in the past. Like the way it's a 8-way shooter. Got up to 1982 so far with about 8 achievements unlocked. I suspect some serious hi-score can be had by hanging around a stage and taking out the formations.

The game is 400 MS and features Live play (which I've yet to try out).

Yeah i love it canny little game, the online part seems a tad strange i played two games both had great connections yet it was like my framerate was cut in half.

One of my golden games - Used to play this at the swimming baths along with Xevious so I hold a special place for it.

Live play ? How the **** does that work ? Just a shot at a time that was the original setup ?

Can't wait for a shot of this - and Scramble next week - superb :)

I must say the CBS version was amazing back in its day too

Time Pilot ... yeeha, beautiful game ... though I am also baffled as to what online mode it will have. Info please?

Just had a look at the achievements for this ... I'm reckon I'm gonna have all of them within about half an hour.

Looks like its head to head best score wins type deal well what i could make from my two games.

Yeah, you can go head-to-head in Ranked and Player Match. There is also Co-Op in Player Match mode. All multiplayer modes are split screen.

Hmm - sounds like it'll probably suffer from FroggerLIVE-Syndrome then ????

Well, I've had a few games and they've all been sound. But you never know :)

I sincerely hope not, that was practially unplayable in co-op...

Already got to 1982 with 95 achievement points. Can't argue with that for 400 Microsoft points, its a fun game anyway!

Used to play this when I was a lad and it's still a great little game.

Default difficulty is low so getting the achievements is easy. My only complaint is that it doesn't save your scores like Galaga, Pac-Man etc so you'll need to be signed-in to Live to appear on the rankings.

I didn't like it at all :hmm: control of the ship works different to what I keep expecting and find it really hard. Put it down to the fact I've never even heard of it so there's no tinted speccys there for me unlike the other titles on arcade.

Pull yourself together man! Call yourself a gamer? ;)

Stick with it, it isn't that hard.

It's boring as well  but I'll leave it on and see what my friends think who're staying tomorrow.

Hmm... how dull. How about some decent shooters MS? Say, Ikaruga or Radiant Silvergun perhaps.

Konami are showing Capcom and Namco/Bandai how this should be done. Sharpened up original version that looks way better in HD than Galaga, plus a version with a subtle visual and audio update. And it was a great game to begin with. Well worth 400pts.

Meh. Thought this was pretty tat to be honest. No rose tinted shades on here either. 400pts gets you GW:RE. I think the older arcade titles (even if they are passed through the HD-tart-o-matic) should be around the 200 pt mark...

Edit: and i think 200pts is generous as there's next to no chance I would pay to play a game of this age in the arcades these days.

Personally I enjoy it, and I never played this originally either. :)

*Shells out for the points.*

Yeah, 200pts for this and the likes of pacman, 400 for the simple modern ones like GW and the card games (I want blackjack! or pontoon) and I was even happy to pay that for Gaunlet and Smash TV as they're at least little deeper than the ancient arcade. 800 for SF2:HF and anything from that age is fair enough as well as Cloning Clyde and any more complex modern ones.

It won't happen though as people are easily happy to part with 400pts as a pitance, especially when themes and pics can cost between 100-200.

Bankshot Billiard would never have got 1200pts from me and neither will Lumines.

I turn off the HD-Tart-o-Matic straight away, infact I couldn't tell the difference on Gauntlet. If they can shave some points off for removing that then there's a start.

Ooh.

I'm rank 12 on Xbox Live at Ranked VS play. :)

7 wins, 0 losses, Trueskill rank of 25.

Great little game, another instant purchase - fun, not bad at all for £3.40. :) Managed 120 Gamerscore out of this so far, not too hard, but a fair challenge for the long-run.

I don't mind paying 400 for all the oldie arcade games, 800 for Street Fighter was a real stretch, but just about worth it with Live play. 800 for original content like Outpost Kaloki X and Cloning Clyde is perfect, and 1200 is alright for bigger original games like Bankshot and Lumines (if it's true about 1700 for Lumines, then I'm not too impressed).

Anyway, yeah, the game is fun, and not quite 8 way - it's more if you just twitch the controls a bit. I think it looks really nice too, I've not tried the non-tarted up version yet.

Time Pilot is one of my all-time faves. It is just such a joy to play! The way the ship moves around does need some practice, but most players will get to grips with it in a matter of minutes. The rest is pure, frantic shooting fun. Too bad there are only five stages in the whole game.
I can't say I am too keen on the revamped HD version : it is way sharper than the original, but the numerous smoke and transparency effects make the battles more confused. The explosion sounds are just weird. Play the original game.
One final word about the achievements: they are way too easy to get. The "complete all five stages without losing a life" one is a toughie, though.

Next week is Scramble. Another classic that has stood the test of time!

I so want Xevious on marketplace now.

Haven't tried this multiplayer - is it good ? I'm thinking an updated version of the old Atari2600 classic "Combat" here :) Please say it's so.

Got myself a wad of achievements last night too - just haven't reached the UFO stage yet (1984 seems faster than I remember ?)

Top game - Really top game.

It's basically a shoot-em-up score contest. You're both playing through the game seperately on split screen to compete who can get the highest score. :)

First player to lose all their lives loses.

I think my main beef with it is the control mechanism. Like you guys mention though, if I were to perservere with it then I might get used to it. I guess I expect it to play like Asteroids though! :)

Bought this last night after everyone at work went all nostalgic about it telling me how good it was/is. And I was pleasently suprised. It gets really intense the further you get and I love the 'swooping' feel of the control weaving in and out of all the enemies and their bullets.

Well worth the price of a pint.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Didn't click at first but by the time I'd played the demo a few times I was left wanting more, and with ms points just sitting there doing nothing it would have been rude not to use them.

Have managed to reach the last level but will take a bit of doing to get there with one life. Out of the achievements I have got it was the "Shoot down 10 bombs in 1910" that gave me the most grief. I lost count of how many times I replayed it to get that one.
